                 Ramesh lived three kilometers away from his school. The walk every day to school was very hard and time-consuming. He always wished he had a bicycle. 

                 Once one of his friends mentioned that he would sell his old bicycle for 1000rs. Ramesh asked his father for the money. His father, a farm worker, however, could not manage the entire amount. He agreed to pay half the sum. Ramesh decide that he would make up the rest of the amount by doing some work.

                  He took up the job selling newspapers. He started getting up early. He worked one hour a day for two months. He earned almost 700rs. He gave it to his father who was quite pleased. The bicycle was finally bought. Ramesh was doubly pleased because he himself had worked to earn the money for his needs instead of depending entirely on his father. He realized that self-help is the best help.
